Here is my reflection after thinking about these skills!
Define your skills as you understand them:
It is crucial to incorporate what skills you feel comfortable with when learning new skills! I think about my openness and believe that this could be my window into this other world. Technology is something that has always caused me angst, but is also an area that I feel comfortable admitting that I need help in. I have decided to take the initiative and push myself to incorporate more technology in my classroom and to stop hiding from electronics. Communication is crucial in any learning process (in my opinion) but especially when you may not always find yourself in that face to face forced discussion among peers or professors.
Discuss what incorporating these skills into your classroom would look like:
I am looking to incorporate not only technology, but a greater collaboration among students. One are that we would like to see grow is collaboration across content areas and I believe that technology can help build that bridge.
What can you commit to for this year?
We are going to start the students out with their own wiki pages and this will allow them to keep a portfolio of their work throughout the year. This is also a great place for them to incorporate creative components regarding our quarterly essential questions.
How will you measure success?
We will be taking small steps and limit the delivery of the components to only a few simple tools that we are teaching our students. One tool is Notability on the iPads which allows the students to annotate and post it to their blog. In addition to this, we are also teaching the students how to use google docs to collaborate in powerpoint presentations. Lastly, we will be taking on the task of teaching our students how to create a screencast.
